The wisdom of Vedic Astrology is traced back to the Vedas which are ancient scriptures. At over 5,000 years old they are the oldest scriptures known to exist. The Vedas are the source of the wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga.
Vedic Astrology is also called Jyotish, which is a Sanskrit word translated as the “Science of Light” Jyotish’s meaning can also be summarized as the scientific art of the divine cosmos and a means to study Kala (time). Jyotish is the foundation of all Vedic sciences and is called the Eyes of the Veda.

Vedic Astrology can give deeper understanding into the unique planetary energies that you came in with at birth. It can also give you insight into your habitual ways of thinking and acting, your relationships with other people, and show opportunities to shift into greater awareness of what is working or not working in your life.

Many people use Astrology mainly as a predictive tool, I see it as more of a guiding tool to make better choices in the present, which therefore shifts future outcomes and potentials for personal fulfillment.

A note about the Tropical Zodiac used with Vedic Techniques:

Vedic Astrologers practicing in India typically use the Sidereal zodiac. This zodiac is different then the zodiac that many people are familiar with in the West, which is the Tropical Zodiac. The zodiac shifts by 30 degrees, which means your Sun sign and other planetary placements will probably change depending on what zodiac you are looking at.

There is much debate in astrological communities about what zodiac is "correct". A lot of research has been done on the subject. There are many incredibly accurate astrologers using different systems and still getting great results.

I began studying Vedic Astrology with the Sidereal zodiac. I then found my main teacher, Ernst Wilhelm, who uses the Tropical Zodiac with Vedic techniques. In the beginning of studying with him I stayed using the Sidereal Zodiac, but eventually decided to do my own tests on the different zodiacs using the charts of friends and family members. I did this for 9 months until I came up with my own decision, which was that the Tropical Zodiac was more accurate and aligned for me.

I do not believe there is a "correct" zodiac. Spirit, the universe, our guides, and our intuition, all speak to each one of us individually through different systems and non-systems alike. My intuition and guides work with myself, and my clients, through the Tropical zodiac.
